70v Commercial Audio Systems, although sometimes used in residential applications, are predominantly used in medical offices, churches, department stores, and in other places where multiple mono speakers are needed in multiple locations. 70 Volt Systems are comprised of amplifiers, speakers (with transformers), volume controls, and a telephone system interface, depending on your phone company set up. As stated, 70v Systems are mostly used in commercial audio applications and they begin with an Amplifier. GIN Caries a full line of strait power amplifiers with features such as volume controls, bass and treble controls, etc., that are built into the amplifier to make it a one stop solution. Most commercial amplifiers have speaker outputs for 4/8/16 ohms, 25 & 70 volt.
With a 70v Audio System, one does not have to worry about keeping the impedance matched throughout their system as they would with one based on 8 ohm. Impedance is a measure of resistance and in a 8 ohm system if you hook up too many speakers to one amp the impedance will change to dangerous levels and potentially destroy the amplifier. However, in 70 volt commercial style systems, you wire the speakers in parallel with transformers, which regulate the wattage going into each of the speakers. To calculate the wattage of the amp needed to run your system, simply take the total wattage of all the taps on your speakers and include a 20% buffer, just to be safe. Moreover, all the taps do not need to be set at the same watts, hence, you can thereby set volume levels for different speakers when the amp or amplifier is at one constant volume.
