70v Wall Speakers are usually indoor outdoor speakers that are mounted with a bracket, but also come as flush mount. This gives you much more options as far as looks and designs go when creating your distributed audio sound system. The transformers that are used on 70v Wall Speakers are step-down transformers that convert the high-voltage/low-current coming from the power amplifier to the low-voltage/high-current signal that makes the commercial sound speaker work. Each transformer usually has multiple wattage taps so that each can be individually set as to how much wattage will enter, because of this, how loud each will be.

With a set up as such, one does not have to worry about keeping the impedance matched throughout their music system as they would on an 8 ohm based system. Impedance is a measure of resistance and in a 8 ohm system if you hook up too many speakers to one amp the impedance will change to dangerous levels and potentially destroy the amplifier. However, you can wire these in parallel because of the transformers spoke of earlier, which regulate the wattage going into each of them. To calculate the wattage of the power amp needed to run your system, simply take the total wattage of all the taps and include a 20% buffer, just to be safe. Moreover, all the taps do not need to be set at the same wattage output, hence, you can thereby set different volume outputs for different locations when the amp is at one constant volume.
