Amplifiers / Power Amps & Receivers

Amc  AudioSource  Hifi Works  Whole House Audio Distribution  DJ & Pro Audio

As stated on all our Amp Pages, Hi Fi Stereo Amplifiers are the back-bone of any Home AV or Audio Video System. As opposed to merely HiFi Power Amps, Home Theater Amplifiers are usually designated for an Audio Video Movie System, and they are almost always (if not always) Digital (as opposed to Analog). Not only do the units power an input signal, they provide most of the connections to the AV System. Moreover, they also control which audio/video source is selected, they process the incoming sound signals, and distribute audio to the separate channels. In a Home Theater System, the Amplifier Powers and distributes the signals to Front Channels, a Center Channel, Rear Channels, and various other channels, depending if your system is a 5.1, 6.1, 7.1, etc.

These Power/Hifi Amps will also distribute a simple stereo signal to a left & right channel, often through the front channel speakers output, or sometimes through a separate "B" channel output, that is often used to distribute audio through a whole house or multi zone music distribution system. As stated elsewhere, since the whole house music distribution will only be distributed through one L/R channel, one will have to worry about low impedance when connecting multiple speaker pairs to this one zone. Connecting impedance matching volume controls in line from the source (in series) will stabilize the impedance, as will wiring the whole house audio output to a multi zone speaker selector with impedance protection.
