In Wall Subwoofer, Center Channel, & Rear Channel Speakers

In Wall & Ceiling Speakers

High Performance Flush Mount Speakers take up virtually no space, make for a nearly invisible stereo system, and are excellent for hi fi audio and home theater. Obviously, flush mount speakers are mounted in the wall & ceiling, but when comes to surround sound systems, you have to choose between the two, not merely for esthetics, but for Hi Fi Performance. Subwoofers are almost always mounted in the wall, the sole exception is an occasional in floor subwoofer. Moreover, In Wall Front and Center Channels give better performance than ceiling mounted. The Audio / Surround Sound comes directly at you and fills up the room much better, it is a Hi Fi Directional equation. However, when space, decorating, or esthetics come into play, I have heard great sounding home theater systems with all the speakers mounted in the ceiling. Rear channels seem to be equally effective in the wall or ceiling. Since they are primarily effect channels, having the sound not coming directly at you often adds to the effect and even brings out more dimensions of the audio track.

In Wall Subwoofers come in 8 in, 10 in, and 12 in inch models. A sole round woofer with a square overall design. Some of them have electronics crossovers and almost all are passive, i.e., they do not have an amp built in. In Wall Center Channels usually have 2 woofers, 5 1/4 in, 6 1/2 in, or occasionally 8 inch. They are rectangular in design and in the home theater surround sound system, play primarily voice. Front rear and side channels are simply your standard in wall or in ceiling speakers. The basic sizes for In wall & Ceiling Speakers are 5 1/4 in (5.25), 6 1/2 in (6.5), and 8" inch, which refers to the size of the woofer. Moreover, they usually come in 2 way & 3 way models, 2 way being a woofer and a tweeter, 3 way being a woofer, mid range and a tweeter. In addition, 100 watt seem to be the most popular, in part because 100 watt High Performance amplifiers & home theater receivers are so popular.

The days of your Hi Fi AV Equipment having to be huge are long gone. Again, with Flush Mounting, these are nearly hidden, you no longer have to decorate around or dust them. Moreover, the grills are paintable and hence they will match nearly any decor. Installation is also a snap- 5 minute job. They come with template that you trace onto the drywall or plaster (or whatever the room is constructed of) and you cut out the shape with a drywall saw. Then you connect the positive wire to the + and the negative to the -, gently slip the unit into the hole, and slowly secure the C-Clamps with a variable speed drill and a screwdriver bit. It is truly that simple!
